The NEONATAL TOTAL-T4 Screening ELISA kit is an ELISA-type quantitative test used to quantify the totality of thyroxine (T4) contained in a test dried blood samples on 903® or 226 blotting paper. This test is for congenital hypothyroidism newborn screening.
The NEONATAL TOTAL-T4 Screening ELISA is a competitive ELISA: the T4 thyroxine contained in the test sample and the T4 labeled in known quantity competitively bind to the anti-T4 antibodies covering the microplate. The marked T4 allows the detection by colorimetry and the intensity of the measured absorbance signal is directly proportional to it. The intensity of this signal is therefore inversely proportional to the concentration of T4 contained in the sample.
