Galaxy A9 Dried Blood Spot Puncher

With a capacity of nine plates, the Galaxy A9 Dried Blod Spot Puncher is the latest addition to the line and is ideal for newborn screening laboratories that test multiple parameters simultaneously or screen a large quantity of samples.

The Galaxy A9 automated DBS puncher is based on proven technology used in newborn screening laboratories and DNA or forensic testing laboratories. It has advanced features to ensure sample integrity throughout the perforation process. The work is performed with ease and precision without compromising the comfort and safety of staff.

The Galaxy A9 DBS puncher is equipped with a movable dual-size punching head. This enables automatic perforation of multiple discs from the same sample.

The system is equipped with features that enhance the user experience: The “ionizer” function decreases static electricity during punching. The onboard camera images the plate before and after each punch to check the correct placement of each disc in the dedicated well.

A light system targets the punching area on the sample so that the user can position the card for optimal punching. This feature increases productivity by punching up to seven 3-mm discs per blood spot. Coupled with the camera, images of wells or tubes are displayed in real time and can be saved before and after each perforation.

The barcode reader ensures sample traceability. The information generated can be used by the laboratory LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). The puncher has several ways to trigger the punching mechanism: either automatically or manually.
